“Speeches” are the illusions to which we so often try to reduce reality. “When I was little, I thought that RTP staff walked along the electric wire to the magic box, where they spent their days entertaining the viewer. I also thought that, if I unplugged the box, they would be trapped inside. That would have been an unkindness to those that had provided me with such happiness. These days, the box is flatter and seems to primarily deliver speeches, speeches that delude, that do not correspond to the gesture. Perhaps now it would be fairer to unplug.”

“Quando eu era pequena achava que os funcionários da RTP caminhavam pelo fio eléctrico até à caixa mágica, onde passavam o dia a animar o espectador. Achava também que se desligasse a ficha do aparelho eles ficavam lá presos. Parecia-me uma maldade para quem trazia momentos de felicidade. Hoje em dia a caixa está mais plana e transmite-me acima de tudo discursos, discursos que iludem, que não correspondem ao gesto. Talvez agora fosse mais justo desligar a ficha”
